New winter apparel

Wherein I talk about the weather and gloves.

This winter here in central/north-central Belgium has been unusually mild. In November, well before the start of “official” winter, we had maybe a week of freezing to near-freezing temperatures, with two days of snow — which was, of course, gone the next day. Maybe my memory really is rotting, but I seem to remember that normally we get freezing temperatures and snowfall in the beginning of December at least. Snowfall around Christmas isn’t that common, but it happens. As far as I remember, December 2012 had not a single snowy day.

Isn’t it sad? Yes it is.

Forward to January. Since the second half of last week, we’ve finally got temperatures under-but-near 0°C! Tomorrow, tuesday 15th, they’re even promising snowfall! This calls for the celebratory acquisition of new winter apparel, in this case gloves. I needed new gloves since I lost my ‘old’ ones (they were newly bought in the winter) in March 2012, and riding bicycles without a nice pair of insulated leathery gloves is quite unpleasant.
